6. Jordan Hot Springs, Near Silver City, New Mexico

It is quite the walk to get to the Jordan Hot Springs, but one could say that the journey is half of the experience, and the reward is getting there. By the time you are almost there, you will start descending into a slot canyon, and as you go down you will start to feel that coming this far was rewarding – the multicolored cliffs and spires where the valley widens are something quite unique to be experienced. Then, you actually get to the springs – fed by a warm cascading waterfall, the pool is as long as 20 feet, providing a delightful and relaxing experience.

7. Homestead Crater Hot Springs, Utah

The Homestead Crater took more than 10,000 years to form, and it originated from the melting snow on the Wasatch Mountains that ended up sleeping deep into the earth. Below the surface, the earth heated the water, which permeated upwards, picking up minerals on its way that were later deposited on the surface, forming, thousands of years later, the limestone deposit shaped like a volcano that we know today. You can enjoy a guided tour that will provide you all the geology details of this one of a kind natural phenomenon – and if you don’t want to get into the water, you don’t need to. However, if you are here for non-geological fun, you can enjoy the soaking area and immerse yourself in the crystal-clear mineral water where you can swim, do some scuba diving or even take a standup-paddleboard yoga class. This is an adventurous trip, so don’t forget about travel insurance!
