To stay safe, I really recommend that you always double-check The TSA list of prohibited items before reaching the gate to check up the bag!
3. Not Using TSA-Approved Locks!
Want to get through the TSA checking point securely and safely? Simple, get a TSA-approved lock! Don’t know what that means? Fine, I will explain. TSA-approved locks are simply locks that security officers can easily open with a master key. How can you recognize one? Locks that have been okayed by the TSA are advertised as such on the label. So no worries about that!
Another reason to get TSA approved is to protect your items from being stolen and make sure that you and your belongings arrive at your destination as one piece!
4. Don’t Travel With An Unmarked Bag!
Other mistakes to avoid when checking a bag? Sure. Never ever travel with an unmarked bag. Meaning? Try to make your suitcase stand out by tying a colorful ribbon to your luggage, or simply use some colorful stickers or even a unique baggage tag. There are many ways you can avoid grabbing someone else’s suitcase by accident, but this one will do!
5. Don’t Pack All Your Clothes In Your Checked Bag
There is always the risk for your checked bag to get lost or stolen. Hence, packing an extra pair of underwear or even an entire outfit in your carry-on will save your life! And even if your luggage remains safe, the extra socks or hoodie you have packed in your carry-on can come in really handy when you feel cold at the airport or even aboard.
These are only some of the most common mistakes to avoid when checking a bag. Do you know more? Don’t hesitate to share!
See you next time!
